Please find attached the latest edition of GPC news, which includes an appendix listing various “myth-busters“that have been published by CQC.
The LMC would particularly draw attention to the item in GPC news on the new dementia diagnosis enhanced service, as copied below, further to earlier advice issued by the LMC on this. The specification is attached for information.
The GPC guidance doesn’t actually say a great deal, but that in itself probably speaks volumes. Once again the LMC would advise that all practices think extremely carefully about whether or not to sign up to this new enhanced service.Bear in mind once again that there is no funding attached to any of the actual work involved in the enhanced service, merely payment if there is a net increase in number of patients on the practice dementia register at the end of six months -there is an inevitable significant risk that practices might end up doing a great deal of work without any payment whatsoever. Also consider the implications of diagnosing without referral for specialist assessment or investigation, which the specification for this enhanced service appears to particularly encourage.
