Substance Misuse

Those practices currently providing substance misuse services will have received the attached letter concerning the future arrangementsfor commissioning and delivery. The LMChas already expressed concerns about the process to Public Health and a meeting has been arranged between the local authority commissioners, CRI, the new provider, and the LMC. The LMC has, unsurprisingly, also received messages from practices currently providing services sharing my concerns and adding others too.

It would be very helpful if any GPs currently providing drug treatment services, particularly any with a particular leadership role or interest, might be available to attend this meeting, which has been arrangedfor Friday 5th December at 10.30 until 12.00.However I appreciate that the timing will make it extremely difficult for most GPs to attend. It has taken some time to arrange and, when first proposed, was only intended to be an initial introductory meeting, but time and events have moved on.It might be possible for us to rearrange this, or to arrange a further meeting (possibly an open meeting with all GP providers invited) if this date and time proves impossible for anybody who would really like to attend. Your views on this would be really appreciated.
