Patient Choice Scheme and OOA Registrations

Many of you have pointed out that the tableprovided below by the Area Teamin respect of the number of member practices in each CCG is so incorrect as to make the entire information worthless, and this has been brought to the attention of the Area Team.

In the meantime please find attached guidance and a Frequently Asked Questions document from the GPC on the new arrangements. Again the LMCwould draw your attention to the responsibilities of practices and the potential pitfalls should you choose to register out of area patients under the new regulation, in particular that youcan be assured that safe and adequate arrangements for the care of out of area registered patients unable to attend your premises are in place. Despite NHS England’s assurances to the contrary, there is certainly no evidence that this will be the case by the 5th January, and the GPC has already called for the launch of the scheme to be further delayed.
