It’s a great shame that there is now no funding for GP practices to vaccinate their own staff, either through the occupational health route or through some form of commissioned enhanced service, as we previously had through LES arrangements when the PCTs were commissioning general practice in the city. We really have gone backwards here, particularly bearing in mind the current funding and other huge pressures that practices are working under.
I do hope that this is a matter that the Birmingham CCGs will consider through their Primary Care Co-Commissioning Committees; local decisions to reinstate funding would be warmly welcomed and speak volumes of the CCGs’ commitment to supporting their GP practices and staff.
