The BMA has just published its response on proposals to implement a new contract for “ integrated care providers”. This follows on from previous BMA responses to earlier iterations of the integrated care agenda ( MCPS, PACS, ACOs etc.)
The concerns raised by BMA in this latest consultation build on earlier ones and are fully shared by the LMC. The key point is that the aims of integration can be achieved without the need for practices either to “ suspend” their core GMS/PMS contracts, nor even to sign up to integration agreements for partially integrated models, as these too will still have enormous implications for GP practice autonomy and the rights that exist under core contracts.
