Wellbeing & support
General practice asks a great deal of everyone who works in it. If things feel heavy, you don’t have to carry them alone. These services are free, confidential and there for you.

Whatever brought you here, reaching out is a sign of strength, and many colleagues have done the same.
Talk to someone today
NHS staff support line
A free, confidential listening service run with Samaritans, 7am to 11pm every day, for everyone working in the NHS, including practice teams.
Feeling burnt out?
Exhaustion, dreading work, feeling detached from patients or colleagues, or getting less done however hard you try: these can all be signs of burnout. They are common in general practice and they are not a personal failing. Heavy workload, little control and constant pressure all play a part.
You don’t have to wait until things get worse. Talking to someone early helps. Doctors can contact NHS Practitioner Health or the BMA’s 24/7 counselling line, and anyone can refer themselves to NHS Talking Therapies. GPMplus offers coaching and mentoring for general practice teams.
